About ChimScout
ChimScout is a search engine for chimney pros. Type your city and you get the chimney sweeps and repair companies that serve it, laid out so you can compare them in one place instead of opening ten tabs.
Why we built this
Finding a chimney sweep usually means bouncing between map pins, ad-heavy lead sites, and company pages that all promise the same thing. We wanted the boring, useful version: one page per city with every company we could find, its Google rating next to its name, and a phone number you can call without a middleman taking a cut.
Today the directory covers 8,132 chimney pros in 2,899 cities across 49 states, and 6,851 of those listings carry a Google rating.
Where the data comes from
Listings are compiled from public Google Business Profile data, collected city by city through a commercial data feed. From each profile we keep the fields you compare on: name, location, phone, website, the business category (which we translate into service labels like chimney cleaning or chimney repair), and the Google rating with its review count. Ratings and reviews are Google's own; we display them, we don't write them.
How we check what we publish
Every record passes through the same cleanup before it becomes a page. We drop listings on dead or parked domains, strip out anything that isn't a plain business fact, throw away links that don't resolve to a real website, and normalize the messy category strings into six clear service labels. Listings with more complete data rank first; nobody can pay to move up.
We are equally deliberate about what we do not claim. We haven't visited these companies or watched them work, listings don't show prices unless a company publishes one we can carry, and a city with only a listing or two is kept out of search engines until we have enough there to be worth comparing (fewer than 5 companies means the page stays unlisted). Our listing standards
- Every number on a page is computed from the listings on that page, not typed in by hand.
- Ratings and review counts come from Google and are labeled as such.
- Ranking is by data completeness and rating; there are no paid placements and no sponsored slots.
- Business details can go stale, so every listing says to confirm by phone, and every page links a way to report an error.

What we are not
We are not a booking platform and we do not take payments or commissions, and we do not sell your details as a lead. We are not affiliated with the businesses listed. When you find a chimney pro you like, you contact them directly. Listing details come from public sources and may be out of date, so always confirm services and pricing with the company.
